St Nicholas' is one of three district churches (and the parish church) in the St Nicholas' Parish. It is a fine traditional early Victorian stone church with a good organ, and a tower with a good set of bells that are regularly rung.

The parish offices are joined to the church and located at the back. The graveyard surrounds the church with a memorial garden at the rear. Just a few yards to the left of the church are the Church Halls including Cornelia's which is a Coffee Shop open to the public most mornings and serving FairTrade coffee and snacks etc.
