Any company can be good when things go well, but Historic Newspapers really showed their lack of customer service experience when my order was incorrect.
I amended the error less than an hour after ordering and it was not picked up by anyone until 1pm the next day. They told me it was too late to amend and that to make up for it, they can offer 30% off reordering. Who wants an incorrect product and then 30% off to have another bad experience?
At least their Google reviews look real as their Trustpilot reviews seem bought and skewed.

I ordered a book of birthday newspaper headlines dating from 1952 to the present. The cover and personalised first page were fine, the rest of it was tat. All black and white, even though newspapers have been colour for years. Not an item of historical significance, just pictures or royalty and female celebrities in revealing clothing. What a total and utter rip off for £62. Don't buy it, its rubbish and not a hope of getting a penny back.

Terrible company. I do not recommend them at all. Their customer service is so poor.
They ruined the surprise I had for my sister.
The box arrived damaged. A customer service staff just wasted my time assuring a new box would be sent out and I waited more than a week.
When I got in touch with them again, the person said " The delivery staff could not enter your apartment" sounds like they do not have my mobile number at all. It finally arrived but pointless as it was late.

I recently purchased a Birthday book for a relative at very short notice. Personally I cannot fault the quality of the book, embossed with correct name/ details and the service received -Delivered by the deadline date.
I can say the recipient was extremely thrilled with the book and will spend a lot of time going through it.

Dreadful Service. Ordered a 60th birthday gift for a friend. Paid for express delivery to ensure it would get here in plenty of time, did not arrive within the dates given. Went to track my order which was “still processing” even after the estimated delivery dates. Revised delivery dates were given and delays were due to “Covid” and “Royal Mail delays”. Item still did not arrive on revised delivery date, then had an email the day after this to say it had only just been dispatched. Have written an email asking for a full postage refund to which they will only refund the difference between the standard and express delivery which is £1. Still waiting for book....... Will not be recommending which is a shame.

Would leave 0 stars if possible, order was delayed by 2 weeks without any communication. I received my order today and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. The frame quality is sub standard, the backing wasn’t attached, the paper place holders not stuck down, the newspaper not secured so it has scrunched up and has lots of creases. Extremely disappointed, I had waiting a long time for this to be delivered and in all honesty its not up to scratch. I would advise to avoid ordering anything from this company and its clear they dont care about customers or quality.

I ordered a newspaper book for a special friends 80th birthday. This is certainly one to be celebrated. I placed the order but within 12 hours realized that I had made a mistake of ONE DIGIT in the birth date, so I emailed immediately to get it rectified. I was met with a ‘no, it’s too late, it’s gone to be printed’ . Would they make a call to halt it? ‘No, it’s too late’. Is there anything that you can do? ‘No, it’s already gone to print’. Consequently the book arrived and yes it was wrong. I have written to the company’s Service Manager and I have been ignored-no response. I will write again and I shall copy in everyone that I can. This company’s service when a problem occurs is appalling. The product is nice, very nice and I would certainly have ordered again for other occasions, but not now. Customer service and customer satisfaction is not their priority, so beware because I now have a useless book that cost me £70.00.

Do not buy from this company. Extremely Unprofessional manor ism and customer service Sandra and Yvette are as unhelpful as their email system. Claims to be open 24 hours all week, but does not reply to emails or phone calls over the weekend. Ordered a newspaper for a family member for the 29th of February 1960. Went onto the website and put in 29th February 1960, then proceeded to order. Later receiving an email saying that I had ordered for the 28th of February! Emailed them and rang them straight away with them saying they are out of office, rang on Monday ASAP and they said they had already started to print so can not change or refund the product. Sandra on Customer services tried to replicate the order for the 29th February 1960 and she could not as it kept changing back to the 28th February. Then told me that I could not refund it as the order had already gone through. Then after admitting fault on their end kindly offered me a discount if I wanted to purchase another newspaper but the one I had already ordered would not be refunded or amended, despite the fault being on them. Disgusted with how company's like this are allowed to trade when they are just out to steal money.

Absolutely awful service!! Totally using COVID-19 to there advantage and as an excuse!! Used priory fast track shipping (extra cost) 3 days past the delivery and the order hasn’t even been shipped!! You try to ring with an answer phone message clearly stating business hours which is obviously when your trying to call!! Then get a not helpful email with the over used wording of “slight delay” why have they not switched if priority shipping? Oh because they want your money!! Totally ruined a 50th birthday present!!! Please read other reviews basically saying the same!!

Do not get anything from this company, their website does not recognise 29th February. And I was ordering a book for my brothers 60th Birthday, and it turned out that it changed the date to the 28th. I sent them an email but no reply, I contacted them and they said it was to late to change the order, and offered me as a gesture of good Will a discount if I ordered a new one. We are pensioners and cannot afford to pay again.
